With a complete set of high performance features and expandable functionality, the Uniden TRU9488 offers a full set of convenient options for busy homes. Call Waiting Caller ID includes a 100-station memory (with subscription to local service) that allows names and numbers to be transferred between handsets or moved into the permanent 100-station speed dial. DirectLink two-way radio communication is built into each handset, allowing them to function as an in-home intercom system or baby monitor. Redial any of the last three numbers at the touch of a button, activate three-way calls or just enjoy the consistent, clear 5.8 GHz digital signal transmission. This set includes one corded handset and one cordless handset with a separate charger; the system is expandable to a total of ten (additional cordless models available separately). You can transfer incoming calls between each handset, and make use of the convenient hands-free design by using the included belt clip and built-in headset jack (headsets available separately). A page button lets you quickly locate the cordless handset if it's strayed under the couch cushions.
Easily adjust handset and ringer volume levels to your comfort, and set the handset LCD menu to one of three menu languages (English, French, or Spanish). The base sits sturdily on a countertop, giving you plenty of display options, and a total of 20 different ring tones (10 tones, 10 melodies) give you a variety of choices. Uniden provides a one-year warranty covering parts and service.

An excellent instrument with expandable units BUT NOT wall mountable contrary to reviews; conveniently can update remotes from base.

I love this phone. It has great features but the best part is its signal strength. You can go anywhere in the house and never get static or interference. Another great feature is that you can put a phone anywhere with electricity. We are going to put one in the garage! We have tried five other cordless phones and they were all terrible. The only problem I have with this phone is the set up. I like instant gratification and I actually had to read the manual to program the time. Other than that I LOVE THIS PHONE.

I have the 8866 system and 8 handsets, but purchased this for the corded handset, and set the extra handsets to this, unplugging the 8866. The base signal is not powerful enough to prevent static even on the same floor of our house. Have to change back to the 8866.

I bought one of these a year ago, and added several handsets. The sound quality is good. The number buttons are soft and attract dirt, and you have to keep cleaning them. However, this last week the main base phone failed for no reason. After repeated attempts to reach customer service, and no response from Uniden, I am trashing the entire setup. They have one of those endless on-hold numbers; and email with no response. Won't buy this brand again.

I am very pleased with the performance of this phone. It was very easy to set up and use. I needed a combination of corded base phone with one handset. This model filled my requirements perfectly. I like the fact that it has the capacity to add another handset at a later time. My old phone had a problem with the speaker when it was taken off the wall and put on a table. The speaker on this phone is an improvement according to the person on the other end.
